Laboratory Applications

Vacuum pump applications in the modern laboratory environment including scientific, medical, semiconductor and space research include aspiration, gel dryers, desiccators, filtration, freeze dryers, house vacuum, solvent degassing, vacuum concentrators, vacuum ovens and rotary evaporators. The rotary evaporator is a device used in chemical and biochemical laboratories for the efficient and gentle evaporation of solvents. The main component of a rotary evaporator is the vacuum system which consists of the vacuum pump, a rotating evaporation flask, and a condenser with a condensate collection flask. As the evaporating flask rotates, the liquids are forced to the outside of the flask by centrifugal motion creating a larger surface area of the liquids and allows for fast , gentle evaporation. Rotary evaporators are very effective at removing the majority of organic solvents during the extraction process. Rotovap’s up to 5 liter can choose the Onyxx Viper Series VR-06 or VR12, systems from 5 to 25 liter can choose the Viper Series VR12 or VR24.
