Refrigeration Evacuation
A refrigeration system is designed to operate with oil and refrigerant flowing internally,
other materials present are considered foreign to the system and must be removed.
This includes condensable and non-condensable gases such as water and air. The vacuum
pump must be able to not only evacuate the system but also dehydrate the system
of any remaining moisture. The Onyxx Thermocouple
Vacuum Gauge can be the main tool in determining when all moisture has been
removed from the system by stopping the pump and noticing any pressure rise in the
system. A notable pressure rise will indicate that water is still present as it
boils off into a vapor and increases the pressure in the system. The Onyxx Viper
Series VR-03 and
VR-05 are great choices for systems that use less than 20Hp, over 20Hp would
require a larger pump such as the Onyxx Viper Series
VR-24. Systems designed to run at 10f. to 45f should be evacuated down to
400 microns, and systems designed to operate between -20f. to 10f. should be pumped
down even lower.
